Almost all screenwriters and filmmakers use popular computer programs to write their screenplays.
Do not spare funds for purchasing software. A properly formatted script is much more difficult to write without using a special program.
The following programs are good:
- Final Draft is a very popular, powerful and functional program,
- Movie Magic Screenwriter – Also a great option for professionals,
- Celtx is a free, very decent alternative
- Clerk – plugin for Microsoft Word, only for formatting and markup
- Scenewriter Pro, Dramatica, Movie Outline, Scrivener, Montage, Scripped, etc.
If your script is not properly formatted, it will create a sense of amateurishness in the eyes of all stakeholders – financiers, actors, employees.
Final Draft and Movie Magic are both very common in the film industry. These are decent, powerful applications and are used by most professional screenwriters.

Nowadays, VFX artists use a variety of programs to create high-quality images that are difficult to distinguish from reality. For 3D modeling, animation and rendering – Maya, 3ds Max (wider range of modeling tools), Blender (free), ZBrush. For video post-processing – Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro and Nuke.
If you look at it, PC games are all VFX. But in the last couple of years, game technology has begun to actively penetrate the visual effects industry for film and television. Modern game engines, VR and tools built on these technologies allow to reproduce fairly realistic graphics in real time right during filming, thereby greatly simplifying filming and reducing the time for the production of final graphics. This process is called Virtual Production. And we also teach some of these aspects on our program.
